Founded by the Irishman Rick Delaney, Aqua Blue Sport consists of a team of 16 riders supported by www.aquabluesport.com, a marketplace with everything you need to know that’s pedal-powered. The Aqua Blue Sport riders are supported by personnel of the highest calibre including sporting directors, high-performance coaches and race support personnel. With four years guaranteed financial backing and two-year contracts for the cyclists, the mission is to create a rewarding team culture with the welfare of the athletes firmly at its heart.
The fruit of a long-term vision to compete in the world of elite sports with a team based on a unique, self-sufficient financial model, Aqua Blue Sport is Ireland’s first UCI Professional Continental cycling team, launched in January 2017.
Having harvested considerable success in its opening season – including stunning stage victories in the Tour de Suisse for the American rider Larry Warbasse and in La Vuelta de España for the Austrian Stefan Denifl (who also obtained the overall victory in the Tour of Austria) – Aqua Blue Sport is firmly cycling toward its main goals: recognition on the WorldTour, participa5on in the Tour de France and success for www.aquabluesport.com.
