The New Zealand rider, Samara Maxwell, continues her extraordinary season in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. In the challenging alpine course in Val di Sole, she secured an impressive second place, strengthening her position at the top of the Olympic Cross-Country (XCO) overall standings.

The race was dominated by Dutch rider Puck Pieterse, who set an unbeatable pace from the outset. However, Maxwell showed intelligence and strength on the tough Italian climbs, reducing the time gap in the final lap and securing another valuable podium finish.

“I knew where to accelerate and when to save energy. On the last climb, I could see that I was closing the gap. I gave it my all, but it wasn’t quite enough to win. Still, it was a great race,” said the New Zealander after crossing the finish line.

This latest podium finish adds to a stellar season in which she has already achieved one victory and four second-place finishes in the World Cup. It is worth noting that Samara Maxwell relies on 226ERS sports nutrition to help her perform and recover in the most demanding events in the international calendar.

The next challenge for the leader of the Decathlon Ford Racing Team will be the Les Gets event, where she will be looking to extend her lead in the overall standings.
