Vicente Hernández shone on the podium at the Zarauzko Triatloia

Vicente Hernandez 226ERS

Last weekend, Zarautz came alive again with one of its most eagerly awaited sporting events: the Zarauzko Triatloia. This legendary race attracts the best triathletes every year to compete in a setting that is as spectacular as it is challenging. In this 37th edition, Canarian triathlete and 226ERS ambassador Vicente Hernández delivered an outstanding performance, demonstrating his experience, tactical intelligence and excellent form.

A tactical race from the first metre

The Zarautz triathlon is not just any race. With a 2.9 km swim, an 81 km bike ride with over 1,300 metres of elevation gain and a 20 km run, it requires precise planning and impeccable execution.

Vicente started strongly in the swimming segment, exiting the water in the lead group. This allowed him to approach the transition with confidence and remain among the favourites from the outset.

In the cycling segment, he gave his all and conquered the race’s legendary climbs, such as Meagas and the formidable ascent to Txurruka, consistently maintaining his position in the top three.

The foot race, which took place through the crowded streets of Zarautz, was where Vicente consolidated his position. Despite the leaders’ strong pace, he maintained a steady pace without faltering and secured second place. This was a well-deserved result in one of the toughest and most respected national triathlon events.

Congratulations, Vicente!
