Interview with Ada Xinxó. "Impossible to be prepared for Madrid-Lisboa"
Prepared the Madrid-Lisboa? How do you feel for the race? Impossible to be prepared for this race, it is a thing that I have never faced and I don't know how my body has react, 790kms non stop are many hours above the bike, two nights without sleep or doing very little, a lot of uncertainty and nerves but at the same time eager to adventure and that the dish is well served.
How have you prepared the race? The truth is that I have not prepared it specifically, although I had been caught my attention, I did not decide to sign up until the last day, on August 31. Like what I normally do are long -distance MTB races or in stages, I think I have the background and the head, which is a very important factor, I think too. The moments of downturn will arrive and you have to be mentally consistent to continue, so I will have to resort to my words to continue advancing.
You are the only woman in the category alone, how do you face that fact? Although I think that being a woman does not have to make this career more difficult than others, the reality is that it happens to me too often that I am the only woman in a race or that we are two and three, and it is a pity that this happens so much. Luckily we are more and more women giving pedals and striving to overcome our challenges and I hope we are more and more!
Such a long distance in Non-Stop requires a lot of energy. Do you carry a specific nutritional plan? Yes, energy will be fundamental and I hope to manage nutrition and not have stomach problems. Luckily, I have been by my side for many years and that 226ers accompanies me where I pedals. I take with me everything, energy bars and superfood, gels with and without caffeine, isotonic drink, energy drink, sub9, salts capsules, BCAA's and of course my dear recovery drink strawberry! Tomorrow while we travel to Madrid, it will play to explain to my assistance where everything has to give me;)
