Cofidis is a traditional team in contemporary cycling and an institution in France.

Since its premiere in squad in 1997, it has fought in the most important races worldwide, But the Tour of France was its weak point, because it had not won any stage since 2008.

The team was promoted to the UCI World Tour category in 2020, the highest level of world cycling. This return to the high level was due to the budget allocated by the Cofidis loan company and that allowed to hire a dozen runners among which were the Italian sprin Elia Viviani and the French climber Guillaume Martin in 2020 to give another perspective to the team after the march of Bouhanni born in 2019.

In 2023 everything changed and two Spaniards put themselves in command of the management and training of the team: Gorka Gerrikagoitia (49 years old) and Bingen Fernández (50). In this latest edition, the two-stage victory was taken: Victor Lafay, in San Sebastián and Ion Izagirre, in the Belleville-in-Beaujolais stage, managing to break an 18 -year -old streak without winning in the Tour de France.
