Eneko Llanos

Eneko Llanos was born in Vitoria-Gasteiz on November 30, 1976. He has been a professional triathlete with more than 20 years of career and victories.

Your path to triathlon

His first contact with the triathlon was in 91 through Brother Hektor, who began to participate in this sport. To go to encourage him in different competitions, Eneko decided to participate in 92 in a duathlon and in 93 he competed in the Basque Circuit of both duathlon and triathlon. I was 17 years old.

His most important achievement was the silver medal in the Ironman World Championship in Kona in 2008, the year in which he was European champion, but participating in 2000 in the JJ.oo. De Sydney is one of the most significant moments in his sports career, where he got the 23rd position. After this participation, Eneko Llanos was extending the distance of his careers, until he became a specialist in the Ironman.

After 30 years of sports career, awards and victories, Eneko Llanos He said goodbye to the triathlon in May 2023, participating in the ITU World Cup of long distance triathlon in Ibiza, a city that saw him born as a professional triathlete, since in 2003 he made his first long -distance triathlon in this city, the ITU world championship, which he won.

2023 has been the last year in the elite of the Vitorian triathlete, who will dedicate himself to other projects, in addition to exercising as a firefighter, a profession that he also likes a lot, and it was the option he chose when he left the opportunity to oppose in 2018.

But Eneko will continue to be linked to the world of triathlon, continuing as a coach with greater involvement in the Triathlon School (Etrieskola) that his wife opened Ruth Brito, and without ruling out putting on a dorsal from time to time.

28 years in the Spanish team
