Five times world champion, silver medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games, and four times European champion. A record that is completed with the number one of the IU ranking from 2007 to 2016.

One of the hardest moments in his sports career was in 1999, when doctors detected a cardiac anomaly which could mean the end of his newly started career as a triathlete.

And it is that in that year he was already one of the best athletes in his category and all doctors told him that he had to stop competing. Gómez Noya did not agree, so he sought and met the cardiologist Nicolás Bayón, who became a fundamental point in his career as a triathlete. Thanks to him, Javier Gómez Noya continued to compete to this day, becoming a pentacampeón of the triathlon world.
