It is the most successful and long -lived Spanish professional cyclist team of the WorldTour squad, created in 1980.

Is found in the category UCI Worldteam. Participate in the UCI WorldTour racing calendar as in some races of the continental circuit.

Movistar Team It was founded in 1980, under the sponsorship of the Navarra company of Aluminum Reynolds. In 1989 it became sponsored by the Spanish Banco Banesto, passing its headquarters to Madrid. In 2003, the Government of the Balearic Islands took the sponsorship. In 2005 it was the French bank Caisse d’Epargne the main sponsor. As of 2011, the main sponsor becomes the telephone company Movistar.

In 2023, the male team reaches its 44th season with 30 runners. To them are added the 16 cyclists that make up their female team, active since 2018, thus covering their sixth season and fourth being a member of the highest category UCI Women’s WorldTour.

Among the most prominent names for its 2023 template are Annemiek van Vleuten, Enric Mas, Emma Norsgaard, Alex Aranburu, Arlenis Sierra, Matteo Jorgenson, Liane Lippert, Iván García Cortina, Flores Mackaij, Gonzalo Serrano, Sheyla Gutiérrez, Fernando Gaviria or Paula Patiño.

In addition, in 2023, he was born Movistar Team Grave Squad, with Alejandro Valverde, "El Bala", a reference in the last two decades in Movistar Team.

With this new team, Movistar Team joins this incipient cycling modality participating in the most important tests with Iván García Cortina, Ana Dillana, Hayley Simmonds or the presence of ‘bullet’.

For this novel ‘Offroad’ project, Movistar Team Serla Squad will feature members of its road teams and eSports (Movistar Eteam), which will combine their cycling disciplines with this Grave Activity.
