Last Thursday, June 2, Guillermo Olcina (Director of our Endurance Research Lab) was at the Congress of American College of Sport Medicine (ACSM) in Boston, I defend a job that we did in collaboration between the research group of the University of Extremadura (Gaedaf) and 226ers.
It is the first work that comes as a consequence of our collaboration and foundation of the 226ers Endurance Research Lab.

During the marathon the triathletes reached hyperthermia (more than 38.5 degrees) even overcoming some triathlete 40 degrees.
What we did was to measure the internal temperature of several participants during the Ironman of Hawaii. What we could see was that During the marathon the triathletes reached hyperthermia (more than 38.5 degrees) even overcoming some triathlete 40 degrees. The most surprising thing was that after 60-90 'recovery, the triathletes continued in a state of hyperthermia (38.65 degrees). These data indicate the importance of proper hydration, thermos regulation and strategies to reduce body temperature in long distance tests under conditions of thermal stress. In Kona there were 29.1 grades (range 20-36) and humidity 77% (range 71-88).
